How to get here

Walk

From Totton, simply follow the pedestrian finger posts to Eling Waterfront. We are located on the junction of Eling Lane with the Toll bridge.

​

Cycle

We are lucky enough to be on the Forest Cycle Network.

 

By Coach

We request that if you are planning to visit us using a coach that you please get in touch beforehand so we can ensure you get the most out of your visit.

​

Our coach parking location is located near the Anchor Inn Pub (see map below).

We ask that coaches approach by using Eling Lane to avoid the toll bridge weight limit.

By Road

Please use the following directions as entering the postcode into your Sat Nav - SO40 9HD


Parking

Our, free, designated car park is at the bottom of Eling Hill, near St Mary's Church. The Sat Nav may take you to the visitor car park via the Toll bridge.

​

If you need to cross the toll bridge there is a £2.00 charge.  This allows you to cross all day

​

There is also free parking at the slipway - North of the mill.

​

Please note:

 

  • There is a two ton limit for the bridge​

  • We are located in the middle of a residential area, so please be considerate to our neighbours and avoid parking on the roads around the mill.

From Lyndhurst follow the A35 towards Southampton. Turn right (2nd exit) at the roundabout onto Marchwood Bypass (A326) and follow the brown tourist signs for the Eling Tide Mill as follows:

 

After half a mile turn left at the traffic light junction, onto Jacobs Gutter Lane.

Take the next left, onto a short and narrow section of Jacobs Gutter Lane, into the old village of Eling.

Please drive with extreme care through the village.

At the junction, The King Rufus pub will be on your left, turn left onto Eling Hill.

Follow Eling Hill. As you approach the Toll bridge, the FREE visitor car park is on the left.

The Eling Experience Tide Mill and Visitor Centre can be found on the opposite side of the toll bridge.

 

From the motorway leave the M27 at Junction 3 and take the M271 towards Southampton/The Docks/Totton/Fawley.

Keep right towards the end of the motorway.

At the roundabout turn right (2nd exit), using the slipway to merge onto the A35 towards Totton/Lyndhurst/Fawley/A326.

Follow the A35 for almost a mile, keeping right to bypass Totton. Following the brown tourist signs for the Eling Tide Mill, turn left at the roundabout onto Marchwood Bypass (A326), then continue as above.

By rail

Trains arrive at Totton rail station from London and Poole.

Accessibility and mobility access

There is level access to platform 1 (for trains to Southampton and London). However, access to platform 2 (for trains to Brockenhurst and Poole) is via steps. The nearest station with level access is Southampton Central. The rail operators Assisted Travel team can be contacted on 0800 5282 100.

Walk from the station

Totton rail station is approximately a 10 minute walk to the Eling Experience. Exit the station from platform 2 (opposite side to the station building) onto Station Road, then following the pedestrian finger posts signs to Eling Waterfront, turn right along High Street. At the crossroads turn left onto Eling Lane. Eling Waterfront is at the far end of Eling Lane where you will also find the Eling Experience, on the Toll bridge junction. Please be aware that limited footways exist, as the road narrows, for the final few meters on the approach to Eling Experience, so please walk with care.

By bus

Use either Bluestar 6 bus service (which runs between Southampton and Lymington), or the Bluestar 8 bus service (which runs between Southampton and Calshot), alighting the bus at the Batts Corner stop in Totton. for times please see www.bluestarbus.co.uk

Walk from the bus stop

From Batts Corner, follow the pedestrian finger post signage to Eling Waterfront, via Eling Lane. Eling Waterfront is at the far end of Eling Lane where you will also find the Eling Experience, on the Toll bridge junction. Please be aware that limited footways exist as the road narrows, for the final few meters on the approach Eling Experience, so please walk with care.
