The Café offers a place to eat and drink for both customers visiting the Eling Tide Mill Experience and local/casual customers.
With previous experience of managing a café or similar catering facility and leading a team, this hands on role takes responsibility for all aspects of running a café; from optimising sales, preparing menus, food preparation and cooking, income, H & S, stock control and ordering; all whilst ensuring the highest level of customer service is maintained.
You should be qualified to at least a Level 2 Catering Certificate (although updated training can be given) but most of all have a passion for catering and food. As part of the role, the Café Supervisor will also assume the role of Duty Manager when required.
Hours are variable and seasonal (May – September) and include weekend and unsociable hours, so a flexible approach is required.

TIDE MILL ASSISTANTS X 2

Fixed Term Contract:
Various shifts, Wednesday - Sunday
Approximately 9 hours per week | May – September
Welcoming visitors to the site and dealing with admissions and gift shop sales, you will ensure the best customer service is offered. This diverse role will also see you assist with tours and flour bagging.
We are looking for individuals who have an interest in heritage and possess excellent customer service skills. Having worked with the public in a similar environment is advantageous.
This role is seasonal and includes most weekends and unsociable hours, so a flexible approach is required

Volunteering opportunities - we are currently only looking for Cafe Support Volunteers
The Eling Tide Mill Experience is looking for enthusiastic people to be part of our team of volunteers. Whatever your interest or skill level, we have a number of exciting and unique opportunities if you would like to give some time as a volunteer. We are particularly looking for support at weekends and unsociable hours.

Our very popular and busy Mill Cafe offers a place to eat and drink for both customers visiting the Eling Tide Mill Experience and local customers. We are looking for people to offer support to Mill Cafe visitors with both customer facing and behind the scenes roles. The ideal person will enjoy dealing with people and be able to thrive in a busy environment.
Front of house
To greet customers/visitors in a polite and friendly manner, offering an efficient customer reception service for either the Eling Tide Mill Experience and Gift Shop or Visitor Centre. As one of the first points of contact with visitors this role is vital in ensuring customers feel welcome and able to find their way around the site. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be well organised, be flexible and adaptable.
Activities and outdoor learning
These two roles, support the interpretation of the Eling Tide Mill Experience and add to visitor enjoyment and learning by delivering/leading activities with a range of visitors both indoors outdoors.
These roles are vital in ensuring visitors receive a warm welcome, are engaged, well looked after and have a positive visit. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to forward plan and be adaptable.
To operate the Tide Mill Machinery for demonstration purpose, engaging with visitors to ensure they have a better understanding of how a Tide Mill works as well as producing flour for sale to the general public and other outlets creating a revenue generating source.
Also assist in general maintenance tasks both associated with day to day requirements of the safe running of the mill and where required more general maintenance.
In order to effectively market The Eling Tide Mill Experience, we will often attend events off site to promote our offer, sell flour and other products and offer some hands on activities. These may be large scale like New Forest Show or smaller local events.
This role is vital in ensuring that the Eling Tide Mill Experience is promoted in a positive way and that it encourages new visitors to the mill or generates flour sales.
Often these are weekends so availability on Saturday and Sunday is a must.
Archive & Collections Support
To support the care and management of the Eling Tide Mill Experience’s collections.
This role is important in ensuring our collections (archive and artefact) are appropriately managed, cared for and used.
